In June and November last year we were Will writing in Street and Taunton for free! In return, we asked our clients instead to donate to Charity. Our Will Week proved extremely popular – we held just one week in June and November and saw over 70 clients between the Taunton and Street offices.
We have just received our latest donation and are pleased to announce we have raised an outstanding £8,835 for five local charities!
Our chosen charities were:-
- Age UK Somerset
- SENSE
- Somerset Wildlife Trust
- Stand Against Violence
- Taunton Association for the Homeless
We would like to thank these charities for helping us raise the profile of our Will Weeks. Through our donations, we really hope we have made a difference in our community. Here is a quote from Age UK Somerset on how we made a difference this winter:-
“Can I just say a big ‘thank you’ to the team for the money you raised for Age UK Somerset during the Will Writing Weeks. We were delighted to receive donations totalling well over £700.
We will use this money to support our Befriending service. It costs, on average, just £10 for one of our volunteers to visit a lonely older person during these tough winter months. Many of these older folk go an entire month without speaking to a soul, neither relatives nor friends, and this service is a lifeline for so many.
Over 70 visits will now take place due to your fundraising activity.”
This kind of feedback fills our hearts with joy and for that reason, we will be holding another two Charity Will Weeks this year.
