Charity wills weeks

We are very pleased to announce that our Charity Wills Weeks are back for 2023/2024.

This is where the team at Acorn donate their time to write wills free of charge during two separate weeks within 12 months.

The next Charity Wills Week will be week commencing 6th November 2023.

During this time, we ask for a donation to one of our six chosen charities in return for drafting a standard will. The suggested donations are £150 for a single Will, £220 for couple’s Wills and £90 for amendments -saving our client money while raising funds for these fantastic charities.

Every 12 months we select a group of charities that are close to the hearts of our employees.  This year our Charities are:

St Margarets

St Margarets Hospice Care has been at the heart of Somerset’s community for 40 years, providing high-quality holistic care for people with life-limiting illnesses and their families. We help people to manage their illnesses so that they can continue to make precious memories with loved ones. Patients are at the centre of everything we do, so we take the time to care and to listen to what they need.

St Giles

St Giles Animal Rescue takes in many of the County’s strays; pets surrendered by owners that are no longer able to care for them, rescues from the puppy farm industry, dog pounds and ex-racing greyhounds. We provide the care, veterinary treatment and training they each need, regardless of cost, to prepare them for their new life. All our rescues are visible on the website once they are ready to find their forever homes.

Trees for good causes

Trees For Good Causes* is a socially conscious not-for-profit community interest company (CIC) committed to making a positive impact on the environment and our local communities. We specialise in planting trees in Devon and Somerset.
In addition to our commitment to the environment, we are dedicated to
giving back to our communities. Every year, a charity of the year becomes a beneficiary of TFGC profits. We work with local communities to plant native trees that help restore the ecosystem and provide food and shelter for wildlife.

Rusty Road to Recovery is a fully working motor garage, complete with multiple creative workshops, teaching a wide range of skills.

Promise Works is a Somerset charity that recruits, trains and supports
volunteers to become long term mentors in their communities to individual vulnerable children and young people aged between 5 and 25. By establishing a one-to-one match between a mentor and a young person we create a trusting relationship that will be in place for at least 2 years. As the relationship develops the mentor often becomes the most positive and stable adult influence in the young person life. In 2022 Promise Works received the Queens Awards for Voluntary Service.
