Probate Advice & Services

When a loved one dies, it can be hard to know what to do next.

When someone dies, the Executor of the Will should apply for a Grant of Probate, depending on the size of the estate. The person who is granted Probate manages the distribution of the estate. This could be a professional such as a solicitor, or a friend or relative of the deceased. However, dealing with the estate of a loved one can be daunting and you can appoint us to do the work for you.

You can either appoint us to just apply for a Grant of Probate on your behalf, or you can appoint us to deal with the whole estate from the Grant of Probate to the final distribution of assets and legacies. Alternatively, we can simply just give you Probate advice from our offices in Taunton and Street.

The administration of estates is dealt with quickly and efficiently by the Probate Lawyers here at Acorn. We recognise that dealing with the affairs of a loved one who has passed away can be very stressful and time consuming. Our sensitive, legal experts aim to do things as quickly as possible, leaving you to spend time with your nearest and dearest at this sad time.

We are here as much or as little as you need us.

It may be that we simply provide you with Probate advice during a free half hour consultation, which we can either do face to face at our offices, by home visit or telephone or video conference call.
The specific expenses involved will be dependent upon the unique particulars of your situation and the extent of the services you request. For instance, if there is a single beneficiary, no house, and no Inheritance Tax liability, your expenses will likely fall within the lower range. Conversely, if there are multiple beneficiaries,  a number of properties, multiple investments, and an Inheritance Tax liability, your costs are likely to be at the higher end. If you require us to deal with the Inheritance Tax and obtain the Grant only then costs will be lower. In cases where the matter becomes contentious or involves international aspects, anticipate an increase in costs.

If there is a property to sell one of our Property Lawyers will be happy to assist.

How much, or how little you need our services will determine the cost, but we have outlined our current fees if you click the button above to learn more.

“A huge thank you David and team for all your help, compassion and speed with settling all this.”
